All you need is your thumb and 30 seconds to install an EESeal® FilterSeal in your connector.  The video below shows an actual installation of a D-Sub 25 EESeal® into a SCSI connector (Video Notes)

EESeal® Insertion

The design and construction of EESeal® FilterSeals makes them able to withstand a reasonable amount of bending, stretching, and compression without harm. As a result, manual insertion is very simple by hand and does not require any special tools.

Orient the EESeal® FilterSeal so its top is up (if the EESeal® FilterSeal has printing on both sides, the EESeal logo is up, otherwise the blank side is up) and slightly cup it so that Pin 1 (or pin A) can be easily slipped down over the corresponding pin in the host connector. Gently use your finger tip to push the EESeal® down until the head of the pin is even with the top surface of the EESeal. Now simply work the rest of the heads of the pins into the EESeal in the same manner. To make the part go on easily, notice that the EESeal is intentionally oversized, so your pressing action should be towards (not away from) the pins already completed to help compress the EESeal and ease installation. Once the heads of all pins are visible in their corresponding pin holes, the EESeal® FilterSeal can be fully seated by mating the host connector pair.

You may download detailed insertion instructions here.

EESeal® Extraction

The EESeal® is designed to be permanently installed in a host connector and, once seated, will not come out unless intentionally extracted.  The EESeal can be extracted without damage using a special extraction tape we can provide upon request.  You can download the detailed extraction instructions here.
